A late rally pushed Dr. Phillips to a come-from-behind 28-21 win over visiting Winter Park during the Panthers lone spring game on Thursday, May 16.
After being down by as much as two touchdowns through most of the first three quarters of play, the Panthers began their rally in the third quarter when Rodney Wells capped off a 75-yard drive with a two-yard touchdown to cut the lead to 21-14.
In the fourth quarter the Panthers would hit their stride, as a 72-yard touchdown pass from Joe Patti to Jaydan Taylor with 5:58 left would knot the game up at 21-21. A little over four minutes later Wells would scamper down field for a 62-yard run, setting up the game winning touchdown by Patti to give the Panthers the 28-21 win.
On the night starting quarterback Brenden Cyr would toss for 161 yards on 14-of-18 passing with a touchdown, while Patti would toss for 110 yards on 4-for-8 passing with a rushing touchdown. On the ground the Panthers were led by Wells, who rushed for 87 yards on six carries and recorded a two-yard touchdown run.
Taylor led all receivers with his five catches for 93 yards and a touchdown, while Joanes Fortilien (five receptions for 51 yards), Jalen Thompson (two receptions for 37 yards), Noah Schofield (two receptions for 30 yards and a touchdown), Ledger Hatch (one reception for 25 yards), Jacquez Jones (one reception for 18 yards) and Nivon Holland (two receptions for 15 yards) contributed to the Panthers' air attack.
