Obituary: Zelda Louise Rutledge Hull

Zelda Louise Rutledge Hull, 93, of Oakland, Florida, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 17, 2019. She was born in Winter Garden, Florida, on Nov. 30, 1925, to John David and Millie Lorena “Lora” (Tanner) Rutledge and was the younger of four children.  

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Horace Simeon Hull Jr., who was the love of her life. She also was preceded in death by her beloved son, Robert Mitchell Hull; her parents; her sisters, Virginia Berry and Harriet Roane; and her brother, J. D. Rutledge Jr.

She is survived by her daughters, April H. Shepherd and Lynda (Boyd) Sossamon; three grandchildren, Jordan Robert Shepherd, Jillian Lora (Cory) Cleek and Caitlin Mary Shepherd; and many nieces and nephews.  

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 1, at the Oakland Presbyterian Church. Family will receive friends after the service in the church’s Fellowship Hall. A private family interment will be at the Oakland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Church of Oakland, Florida, or to the First United Methodist Church, Sylva, North Carolina.
