Community leaders and citizens are set to gather at the Dr. P. Phillips YMCA Family Center on Wednesday, Nov. 6, for the Y's third annual "Y Diversity and Inclusion Matter" conversation.
From 6:30 to 8 p.m., members of the community are invited to join four familiar faces to talk about current social issues and more. The panel includes Johnny Magic, radio host of XL106.7; Ybeth Bruzual, anchor of Spectrum News 13; Katie Abrahamson-Henderson, head coach of UCF Knights women’s basketball team; and Dick Batchelor, owner of Dick Batchelor Management Group Inc.
According to the Y, the free event was founded in 2017 by the Dr. P. Phillips YMCA’s Social Responsibility committee. Panel members will share their personal and professional stories while exploring current social issues and discussing initiatives for advancing equity.
"The ‘Y Diversity and Inclusion Matter’ event is important because it opens the door for dialogue that can create change,” said Gigi Moorman, panel facilitator and Dr. P. Phillips YMCA board member, in a press release. “By sharing our authentic stories, we have the opportunity to build a more compassionate and accepting environment to strengthen our communities."
