School Board approves salary increases, names new vice chair

Meeting highlights include a 5.5% salary increase and District 4 School Board Member Pam Gould being elected board vice chair.

Salary increases and newly bargained contract agreements were on the agenda during the Orange County School Board’s Nov. 12 meeting.

The School Board approved teacher salary increases pending CTA ratification, as well as changes to the 2019-20 OESPA contract and salary increases for administrative/technical, school-based administrators and food service managers.

Changes to the Orange Educational Support Professionals Association (OESPA) include a 5.5% salary increase, a new minimum hourly wage of $10.75 and retro pay back to the first duty day. Just as with the teacher compensation package, the district also will pay insurance increases for all employees for the 2019-20 school year.

School-based administrators, administrative/technical personnel, executive management and food service managers who were in position by Jan. 15 also will receive a 5.5% salary increase.

Other meeting highlights include:

  • District 4 School Board Member Pam Gould was elected vice chairman of the Orange County School Board. Gould was elected to the school board in 2012. The vice chair of the school board serves a one-year term.
  • Orange County Public Schools observes Nov. 11 to 15 as School Psychology Week
  • School Board proclaims Nov. 20 as Education Support Professionals Day
