The students of Water Spring Elementary dedicated their new school on Wednesday, Nov. 13, with parents, school board members and district administrators in attendance.
Superintendent Dr. Barbara Jenkins told the students that they are “worth every penny” of the $22.4 million cost of the school. The 97,104-square-foot, two-story facility is one of three new schools that opened in Horizon West in August.
Students from the school’s Orff ensemble, dance group and chorus performed for the guests, which included Jenkins, School Board Chair Teresa Jacobs, School Board Vice Chair Pam Gould, West Area Superintendent Patricia Fritzler and Pastor Brandt Leich of Life Church Horizon West. Principal Amy Klaber and Assistant Principal Matthew Hendricks emceed.
Student guest speakers Mackenzie Peikert and Caio Pantaleao Izidoro spoke about the importance of the new school and its warm, positive culture.
