OCPS chooses new General Counsel

Amy Envall will lead the OCPS Office of Legal Services.

Orange County Public Schools has a new General Counsel on board.

On Oct. 9, OCPS announced that it has selected Amy Envall to fill the role previously held by Diego "Woody" Rodriguez.

According to OCPS, Envall currently serves as the General Counsel for the School Board of Brevard County and will bring with her more than 15 years of representing local government agencies. Envall also has experience as a fourth-grade teacher.

Envall previously worked in the department she will lead as an attorney and the Ethics Compliance Officer. Other roles she has held include the following:

  • General Counsel for the Clerk of Courts
  • Assistant County Attorney
  • Trial Court Staff Attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit
  • Assistant Dean for Academic Programs and Faculty Development at Barry University School of Law

"She is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States of America, the Middle District of Florida, and is a member of the Florida Bar," according to a statement from OCPS. "She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Florida School Board Attorneys Association as well as on some local nonprofit organizations."
