It’s been more than 10 years since Windermere resident Don Lohr started The Crew Big Band. The group is still going strong. Lohr started The Crew as a creative outlet for fellow players in the Orlando area.

Noah Santarem, 7, and Endrik Santos, 7, showed off their cosmic creations at the To Mars and Beyond Vacation Bible School at Lifebridge Church on Wednesday, July 10.

Impact Church members and volunteers came together as one team to serve Palm Lake Elementary. They got things ready for the new school year by helping with gardening and moving furniture.

Windermere residents Peter and Nina Khan, seated and right center, have embarked on a musical journey together through The Elite Show Band, which performs across the globe.

“I said I was going into the Navy, not the Army,” Windermere resident Evelyn Doss said. “I made sure they understood that.” So she did, enlisting in 1944 in the WAVES — Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service.

The sea and the sky always seemed to call out to George Vincent — and he’s glad he answered. U.S. Navy veteran George Vincent, 77, is currently a resident at The Sheridan at Windermere.
