Windermere Prep took full advantage of a packed gym on senior night as the Lakers dominated Tohopekaliga in a 66-43 win Wednesday, Jan. 29.
Out of the gates the Lakers (19-3) started a bit shaky, as the Tigers (8-12) jumped out to an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter. Sophomore forward Fanbo Zeng would break the streak with the Lakers first two points of the game.
Over the rest of the first half the Lakers would battle back, before trading jabs with the Tigers and taking a 23-21 lead into the half.
The second half would see Windermere Prep explode offensively, as Zeng, junior guard Zavien Williams and sophomore shooting guard Jayden Williams racked up basket after basket — pushing the Lakers' lead up to 48-30. Zeng would score 12 of his 20 points in the half, while Zavien scored 12 of his 17 points in the latter half. Jayden finished with 16-total points (10 in the second half).
With the score being firmly in Windermere Prep's favor, head coach Brian Hoff once again put in all of his seniors — Lokesh Chintapalli, Pablo Crespo and Rick Walcott — to get them a little more playing time before taking them, and senior starting point guard Jouldan Velez, out to the applause of the crowd.
The win was the sixth-in-a-row for the Lakers, who now have three games left in the regular season — which includes Friday night's away matchup against Lake Mary Prep.
