I have watched each of you grow into the young men and women you are today, and I am proud of you. One part of your life is coming to a close, but so much is beginning for you. I pray you will continue to grow and learn as you move forward into your future.

You, maybe more than any class in recent memory, will go down in history because of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on your senior year. After all of your hard work to reach this moment, you may feel like you are facing an unexpected and overwhelming obstacle: What happens next, especially in a pandemic?

But you — maybe more than any class in recent memory — have the ability to make history. Each one of you has already grown into a leader among your peers, and I pray that going forward you will continue to lead your generation wisely and courageously.

Well done, Class of 2020. Congratulations!
