Fourth- and fifth-grade students in Windermere Prep's fine-arts program are gearing up to present their fall production.

The Lakers will perform "James and the Giant Peach" at the Cypress Center for the Arts at 5 p.m. both Thursday, Nov. 5, and Friday, Nov. 6. Both performances also will be available to stream at live.windermereprep.com.

"James and the Giant Peach" is based on the story by author Roald Dahl and is an adventurous musical about courage and self-discovery.

"When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that grows a tremendous peach, rolls into the ocean and launches a journey of enormous proportions," Musical Theatre International describes the show. "James befriends a collection of singing insects that ride the giant piece of fruit across the ocean, facing hunger, sharks and plenty of disagreements along the way."
