Windermere Prep started off its boys basketball season with a hard fought 81-71 victory over Trinity Prep in Citrus League action Tuesday, Nov. 24.
The Lakers (1-0) and Saints (0-1) went blow for blow throughout the game, and Windermere Prep went into the half only up 37-35.
What followed was a second half that saw the Lakers go down by as many as six, before storming back with about four minutes left in the game to take the lead on a put back shot by senior center Elijah Hulsewe off a missed free throw. The Lakers wouldn't look back as the home side would go on to seal up the 81-71 win.
Hulsewe finished the night with a double-double — 22 points and 14 rebounds — while junior shooting guard Jayden Williams racked up 22 points and seven rebounds. Junior point guard Drew Kousaie added 15 points and five assists.
The Lakers will now enjoy their Thanksgiving break, before taking on Bishop Moore (0-1) Wednesday, Dec. 2.
