Things went downhill fast for Windermere High in its 41-0 loss at the hands of Boone on Thursday, Oct. 29.
Six minutes into the first quarter the Wolverines (0-6) found themselves down 21, before the Braves (6-1) picked up another touchdown to put the home side up 28-0 by the end of the opening quarter.
From there it was all Boone, as the Braves would build up their lead to 41-0 by the half, before calling off the dogs and sailing to an easy win.
The game itself was called a few minutes early, as Windermere freshman Drew Flournoy went down with a significant lower leg injury with two minutes to go in the game. He would be carried out via an ambulance.
"It was a running clock, we agreed to call it so medical personnel could attend to the injured young man from Windermere," said Boone head coach Andy Johnson in a tweet.
Windermere will host Colonial on Friday, Nov. 6, in its final game of the regular season, before taking on Freedom in a postseason play-in game the following Friday.
