West Orange wide receiver Jayden Gibson announced on Wednesday that he would be decommitting from the University of Florida via a statement that he posted on Twitter earlier that afternoon.

"It saddens me to announce this, but after long thought, prayer, and events that have transpired recently, I have decided to decommit from the University of Florida," he said. "I want to thank the Gator faithful for their undying love and support...thank you to all of my supporters, family, and friends for continuing to show love."

Gibson's decommitment comes on the heels of former Florida coach Dan Mullen being let go after the Gators' loss to Missouri and the hiring of new coach Billy Napier, who will lead them in their Gasparilla Bowl appearance against UCF on Dec. 23.

Gibson originally chose Florida ahead of other finalists Georgia and South Carolina, but is now open to other options once again.

He finished the 2021 regular season with 857 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns, being a key component for West Orange's run to the state regional finals.
