Foundation Academy athletes are proving they're champions both on and off the field, as they cinched the FHSAA's 2021-21 Academic Team Champion award for Class 2A.
The Team Champion recognition program honors teamwork not only in competition but also in the classroom. It recognizes each of the FHSAA's sanctioned and recognized sports. Academic team champions are awarded in each classification based on GPA. Plaques are awarded to each classification and overall sport winner.
For overall classification winners, the top 10 schools in each category receive points. Ten points are awarded for a first-place finish, nine points for second, and so forth.
"The school in each class with the highest cumulative point total for the entire school year will get a special award," according to the FHSAA. "Points awarded for teams in single-class sports will still count toward the overall standings."
"This earned distinction is a testimony to the dedication of our administration, teachers, coaches, families, student-athletes and the leadership of our entire athletic department," Foundation Academy staff wrote.
