LaunchED@Home, the virtual learning platform Orange County Public Schools offered during the pandemic, will not be available for the 2021-22 school year.
Superintendent Dr. Barbara Jenkins will make the announcement at the School Board meeting tonight, May 11.
Although the district was hopeful the Florida Department of Education would make a determination regarding the continuation of the LaunchED@Home model, it is apparent any further delay of a decision would be a hardship on our students, their families and our schools — who need to be able to plan now for next year, district officials said in a statement to parents.
Surrounding counties have made the same determination, including Seminole, Brevard, Osceola, Lake and Volusia.
Parents and guardians may enroll their child in Orange County Virtual School if they do not wish for their student to return to face-to-face learning next school year.
