The Healthy West Orange Arts and Heritage Center in the Town of Oakland is now home to a new exhibit.
"Places of Worship," which opens today, Thursday, Nov. 4, explores a diverse array of organized religion and individual spirituality through historic photos, artifacts and colorful paintings.
The cornerstone piece of the Arts and Heritage Center, the circa 1919 Oakland Presbyterian Church’s stained-glass window, will be included in the exhibit and is also permanently on display.
"The exhibition dives into how we make a connection to a higher power through colorful pieces created by Central Florida artists and includes plein air paintings of Oakland churches," the center said.
The Oakland venue is inviting the public to the opening event of the exhibit from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 12, at the center, located at 126 N. Petris Ave.
The opening event will feature a performance by Honeybabe, a musical project of Taylor Rich, and The Knot, an Italian food truck with authentic dishes available for purchase.
The event will also give visitors an opportunity to meet many of the artists in the exhibition.
“Places of Worship” will run until Friday, Jan. 14.
Additional information regarding featured artists will be released at a later date.
The Healthy West Orange Arts and Heritage Center is open on Thursdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and select Saturdays.
