The First Academy will be honoring veterans in a special ceremony next week.
The school will host its annual Veterans Celebration to honor and recognize the French Legion Of Honor Medal recipient and the 80th anniversary of Pearl Harbor.
The celebration will feature the Presentation of Colors by the United States Air Force ROTC Color Guard from the University of Central Florida, patriotic music and a time to honor all veterans in attendance, according to a press release from The First Academy.
There will also be two special presentations including the recognition of the 80th anniversary of Pearl Harbor and the French Legion of Honor Medal presentation to United States Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Mel Jenner, who is a WWII, Korea, and Vietnam veteran.
Event speakers will include student leaders involved in The First Academy’s Wounded Warrior Club, First Baptist Orlando Senior Pastor Dr. David Uth, TFA alumnus and United States Navy Lt. Commander Peter Barkley, United States Air Force Colonel Michael Peeler, French Honorary Consulate Brigitte Jensen, and several other local military members.
The ceremony will also feature performances by the Lower School Choir and the Middle and Upper School Chorus and Concert Band.
All veterans are welcome to attend.
The event will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 10, at 10:30 a.m. in the Worship Center at First Baptist Orlando.
