The Town of Oakland has scheduled an invasive vegetation clearing this week at the Historic Oakland Cemetery.
Cardno, the Town of Oakland's consultants to the Historic African American Cemetery project, will be clearing invasive vegetation from Nov. 9, to Nov. 11.
Cardno is a national firm based in Tampa and includes experts in the specialized area of historic preservation of African American cemeteries.
The clearing will allow the historic preservation and management plan to continue moving forward.
Personnel will carefully remove invasive trees such as Chinaberries without disturbing existing gravesites.
The town's Public Works Department will also participate by hauling away the debris.
