In the true spirit of the season, Goodwill Industries of Central Florida is giving thanks to its donors with a token of appreciation.

This weekend, the non-profit will host the “Thanks for Giving” event to express gratitude to donors who keep its operations running year-round.

Community members who make a donation at their local Goodwill retail store or Donation Xpress location between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20, will receive a 10% discount to use during their next shopping visit.

Donations play a key role in providing resources and jobs to residents in Central Florida. Revenue generated through sales of gently used items fund the organization’s employment placement and job skills training services, as well as its vocational rehabilitation program.

Vice President of Retail and Donated Goods Arnold Sanchez, a Windermere resident, said every donation makes a difference.

“Every donation can make a difference to someone who needs help building new job skills or making a connection with a potential employer," Sanchez. "Our Central Florida community has been extremely generous in its support of Goodwill Industries of Central Florida, especially during the past 18 months, and this event is our way to thank both our donors and shoppers for giving."

According to Goodwill, there is currently a special need for more sweaters, jackets, coats, small appliances, coffee makers, blenders, toasters, sneakers, boots and more.
