The Foundation Academy is inviting students and their families to participate in Bring Your Bible to School Day.
Bring Your Bible to School Day is a "nationwide, student-led movement to read and treasure Scripture as God’s Holy Word, to encourage others with the hope we have in Christ Jesus, and to celebrate our religious freedoms in the United States," according to the organization's website.
More than 500,000 students from around the nation declare their faith as part of the event Thursday, Oct. 7.
John Cooper, an American musician, singer and songwriter from the Christian rock band, Skillet, encouraged students in a video posted to the Bring Your Bible to School Day website.
"I really believe that the bible is the answer the world needs," Cooper said. "This event is a great way to meet this need in a really easy way."
The Foundation Academy is asking students to bring a bible with them to school on Thursday.
"We will be reading our bibles together and celebrating our right to read God's word freely," school officials said. "We want students to feel empowered to read God's word on their own and with their families."
The school is also providing free bibles to those who do not have their own, with a form found here.
