The Ocoee City Commission looks to put the pet store ordinance issue to bed at their Oct. 19 meeting.

The commission delayed a vote at its Sept. 21 meeting to strengthen oversight language in a potential ordinance before bringing it back for a vote.

Orange County passed a law in June banning the sale of dogs, cats and rabbits.

The only store in Ocoee still actively engaging in the sale of puppies is Chews a Puppy. A potential ordinance would allow them to continue to do that for 24 months, but with strict oversight by the city.
