Orlando Health Horizon West Hospital to host OktoBEArfest this weekend

The "Bears Who Care Fun Run and Festival" will be held both in-person and virtually.

The fourth annual OktoBEARfest "Bears Who Care Fun Run and Festival" is making a return this weekend. 

Bears Who Care is a non-profit that brings comfort and engages the imaginations of ill and disadvantaged children during times of need through teddy bears and books. The profits from the run will go towards helping the organization continue its mission. 

The healthy and family-friendly event is offering an in-person and virtual event for this years participants with a brand new route. 

Participants can choose from a 5K for adults or a 1K for children as they run, jog, or walk through the Winter Garden area. 

In-person activities will include live entertainment, interactive sponsor booths, food, raffles, a scavenger hunt and major prize giveaways. 

Due to COVID-19, the organization is taking safety precautions including limiting the in-person event to 600 people. However, the virtual race will offer unlimited participation. 

OktoBEARfest will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 24 at the Orlando Health Horizon West Hospital located at 17000 Porter Road in Winter Garden. 

​The last day for in-person race registration is Saturday, Oct, 23 and Sunday, Oct. 31 for those who wish to run virtually.
