Start With Hello Week begins this week at Windermere Elementary School

Start With Hello Week begins each year in September when thousands of schools and youth organizations nationwide come together to "celebrate the amazing work of educators, students, and community members in building socially inclusive learning environments for all students," according to the Sandy Hook Promise website.

The program aims to teach students in grades K-12 to help their peers in a fun and meaningful way.

The Start With Hello movement accomplishes these goals with three simple steps including "See Someone Alone," "Reach out and Help," and "Start With Hello."

Windermere Elementary will kick off the week on Monday with brightening someone's day by encouraging students to wear something neon and sit next to someone new at lunch. Tuesday students are asked to wear their favorite shirt, Wednesday they will complete a Start With Hello Scavenger Hunt, Thursday is favorite jersey day and Friday they will be encouraged to express their individuality and uniqueness with crazy hair or a crazy hat.

The Start With Hello Week will run from Sept. 20-24. For more information on Start With Hello Week and how to get involved, click here.
