The first of Florida's scheduled minimum wage raises under Amendment 2 are set to take effect on Thursday, Sept. 30.

The state's minimum wage will raise from the current rate of $8.65 to the new floor of $10, increasing by $1.35 per hour.

The change comes after voters approved a constitutional amendment in November by just over 60%.

Under the amendment, the rate will increase incrementally each year until reaching $15 an hour, $11.98 for tipped workers, on Sept. 30, 2026.

The pay boost is one of the many new laws that are set to kick in including a regulatory framework for electronic cigarettes.
