Orange County School Board approves names for new Horizon West schools

The new elementary and middle schools opening in August 2022 now have names.

Hamlin Middle is located at 16025 Silver Grove Blvd., Winter Garden.

The three new schools slated to open in August in Horizon West now have names.

Hamlin Elementary is located at 16145 Silver Grove Blvd., Winter Garden. The school relieves Water Spring and Whispering Oak elementaries. The top three names chosen by the community were: Hamlin Elementary, Hamlin Groves Elementary and Lake Ingram Elementary. The school is in proximity to the Hamlin development, and the Hamlin variety of orange trees grew in the area.

Hamlin Middle is located at 16025 Silver Grove Blvd., Winter Garden. The school relieves Bridgewater, Horizon West and SunRidge middle schools. The community voted on three possible names: Hamlin Middle, Hamlin Grove Middle and Hamlin Hills Middle. The school also is in proximity to the Hamlin development, and the Hamlin variety of orange trees grew in the area.

Panther Lake Elementary is located at 10151 Summerlake Groves St., Winter Garden. The school relieves Castleview, Summerlake and Water Spring elementary schools. The community voted on three possible names: Hawkside Elementary, Horizon Elementary and Panther Lake Elementary. The school is situated near Panther Lake, a body of water in proximity to multiple communities zoned for the school.
