Orange County celebrated the official opening of the new Eco-Education Center at Magnolia Park on Binion Road on the eastern shores of Lake Apopka Monday, Aug. 8. County Mayor Jerry L. Demings and District 2 Orange County Commissioner Christine Moore were on hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The renovation project at Magnolia Park started with funding years ago, and now park goers will enjoy a fantastic new pier, brand-new bathrooms, an eco-education center and a state-of-the-art inclusive playground, Moore said.

Local schools are expected to take trips to the eco-education center to experience living science lessons about Lake Apopka.

Walkers and cyclists can use the 14.6-mile (29.2 miles round-trip) Lake Apopka Loop Trail that takes them to the Lake County line.
