Construction alert for Oakland Avenue

The road will be reduced to a single lane nightly for several days next week.

Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise has scheduled overnight single-lane closures on County Road 438/Oakland Avenue, in Oakland, for milling and paving activities.

The work will take place from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, and nightly through Tuesday, Aug. 23.

One lane of C.R. 438 will be closed at a time at the intersection of Hull Island Drive; a flagging operation will direct traffic. One lane of traffic will remain open at all times to Hull Island Drive.

This work is part of the reconstruction of the C.R. 438 bridge over Florida’s Turnpike/State Road 91. The bridge is being replaced as part of the turnpike widening from State Road 50 in Clermont to Hancock Road in Minneola.

Inclement weather or unforeseen conditions could change the schedule.
