Orange County ranks in the top 25 counties in the state for traffic crashes resulting in serious and fatal injuries to pedestrians and bicyclists. To ensure driver, bicyclist and pedestrian safety, the Ocoee Police Department will be conducting high-visibility enforcement details on Silver Star Road from Bluford Avenue to Wet Circle Key Drive between Aug. 30 and May 12, 2023.

Drivers are encouraged to watch for pedestrians and bicyclists on the roadways and provide them adequate space when passing, police said in a press release; and pedestrians and bicyclists are encouraged to utilize safe roadway behaviors and to cross at crosswalks.

In support of this educational program, the Ocoee Police Department will contact drivers to advise of dangerous driving behaviors, as well as pedestrians and bicyclists to ensure they are following the rules of the road.

“Proper utilization of the roadways and crosswalks can help ensure the safety of our roadways,” police said. “When possible, please cross at a crosswalk or signalized intersection.”

For more information regarding the laws for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists, contact the Ocoee Police Department at (407) 656-905-3160.
