Last week, Orange County announced that the removal of hurricane debris from Hurricane Ian and Tropical Storm Nicole will be complete by Friday, Dec. 16.

"All areas with storm debris at the curb will be serviced by this date," the county said in a press release. "There will be a multiple-step verification process to ensure that every public road has been cleared of roadside hurricane debris."

To date, contractors have collected approximately 270,000 cubic yards of debris, accounting for some 90% of the debris generated by both storms, according to Orange County.

However, debris removal efforts will continue in areas the county has assessed and identified as highly impacted by the storms.

Yard waste must be prepared for collection in accordance with Orange County Solid Waste guidelines after Dec. 16.

Residents can continue to check the status of the county-wide debris removal process by visiting the interactive Debris Removal Status map here.
