West Orange High School organized a luncheon to celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Feb. 9 as part of honoring the 50th anniversary of the passage of Title IX legislation that created equal opportunity for women in sports at all levels.
The ceremony featured a speech from former WNBA player Monica Maxwell, and honored those that have helped pave the way for girls sports in the West Orange High community.
