Is your new year’s resolution to get active? Westly’s 5th Annual Virtual 5K is a great way to start, and there are two ways to accomplish it.

For virtual participants, they must register and then complete 3.1 miles anytime between now and Jan. 31 — at their own pace and wherever and whenever works best for them. They can cycle, walk, run, Rollerblade or take part in any activity that is measured in miles.

Those who want to complete the 3.1 miles in person can join Healthy West Orange at its Fresh Start Festival in Oakland Saturday, Jan. 29; all ages, strollers and dogs are welcome to participate, too.

The race will begin at the Healthy West Orange Arts & Heritage Center at the Town of Oakland, 126 W. Petris St. Check-in is at 8 a.m., warm-ups are at 8:30, and race kick-off is at 9.

Both virtual and in-person participants will receive a race T-shirt and medal. Virtual runners can get their prizes from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, at Health West Orange’s new building, 1200 E. Plant St., Winter Garden.

At the end of the 3.1 miles, participants can share their finish-line photo or video on social media with #HealthyWestOrange, #westlysvirtual5K and tag @healthywestorange, or email [email protected].
