Charges pending in deadly crash on Old Winter Garden Road

A fatal crash on Saturday morning at the intersection of Old Winter Garden and Edgewood Ranch roads has claimed the life of one and injured two others, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. 

According to FHP reports, at about 7 a.m. Saturday, March 5, a 26-year-old female driver from Ocoee was traveling eastbound in a 2010 Acura SUV on Old Winter Garden Road, while a a 58-year-old woman from Orlando was traveling northbound in a 2008 Toyota Corolla on Edgewood Ranch Road.

FHP reports stated witnesses saw the driver of the Acura run the red light at the intersection. That driver struck the left side of the second vehicle. The driver of the Corolla died on scene.

The driver of the Acura and a small child in that vehicle both were transported to AdventHealth with minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation. Charges are pending against the driver of the Acura.
