The Oakland Police Department is responsible for the safekeeping of lost property (tangible personal property that does not have an identifiable owner) found within the town and must retain them for at least 90 days.
Currently being held until ownership is proven are several bicycles: pink girl’s, red and white beach, small orange and white, silver mountain and black mountain. An air gas canister also is at the police station.
There are five ways to prove ownership. The claimant can verify the serial number of the item, have a dated receipt of purchase of the item, have submitted a prior stolen/lost property report with a police agency for the item, have a prior photograph with themselves and the item in it, or be able to share specific characteristics of the item.
Owners of found, lost or safekeeping property should call the Oakland Police Department Property and Evidence unit at (407) 656-9797 to schedule an appointment to pick up their property.
