Orange County to open shelters before Nicole's arrival

One of the shelters will be at the West Orange Recreation Center in Winter Garden.

In anticipation of Tropical Storm Nicole, Orange County Government Emergency Operations Center will open two shelters in Orange County beginning at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9.

The locations will include the West Orange Recreation Center, 309 S.W. Crown Point Road, Winter Garden, and the South Econ Recreation Center/South Econ Community Park, 3850 S. Econlockhatchee Trail, Orlando.

Both shelters are pet friendly.

Orange County residents requiring a special needs/medical shelter should call 3-1-1.
