West Orange- and Southwest Orange-area teams had varying degrees of success Friday,Oct. 21. Here's what we learned from Week Eight of the 2022 season.

VIPERS BREAK SCHOOL RECORD
The Lake Buena Vista Vipers fell short to Poinciana 49-47 Friday night. However, the Vipers displayed a strong offense performance as they were down 41-14 at the beginning of the fourth quarter and bounced back to 49-47 at the end of it. Quarterback Josiah McNair went 206 yards in passing and rushed the ball for 11 yards,  totaling 315 yards and a school record of six touchdowns — two passing and four rushing. Running back Andrew Romero carried the ball 12 times for 121 yards and one touchdown. This season, Romero has carried the ball over 1,000 yards. Wide Receiver Tyson Tran had big performances on both sides of the ball — one reception, one pass completion and two carries, nine tackles, one forced fumble and one interception. 

FOUNDATION ACADEMY SPORTS STRONG DEFENSE
Despite a loss against The First Academy, the Foundation Academy Lions performed a strong defense display during the game, only allowing 7 points through the first three quarters. Zephy Rogers and Sam Zagame led the team with 14 total tackles while Will Ford had 8 tackles, one interception and a quarterback sack. The game between the Royals and the Lions was a defensive one, only allowing two offensive touchdowns from both teams. 

ROYALS DEFENSE TAKES ON LIONS
On what it was a defense game, the Royals were able to overtake the Lions' defense to win the game. Quarterback James McGinn went 9-of-17 in passing for 81 yards while Ryon Smith carried the ball 11 times for 100 yards. On the defensive side of the ball, Smith and Elliott Jamison led the team with a total of 10 tackles each. 

WARRIORS DEFEAT PANTHERS IN ANNUAL OL' ORANGE CRATE GAME
West Orange High and Dr. Phillips High played an even game the night of Friday, Oct. 21. On the offensive side, quarterback Trever Jackson went 10-of-15 in passing for 162 yards. The defense recorded a total of 101 tackles during the game with Noah Nixon and Dominic Madrid leading the team with 19 and 17 tackles respectively. 

OCOEE RUNNING BACK ACCUMULATES YARDS
During the game against the Windermere Wolverines Friday, Oct. 21, the Knights' running back Keyondray Jones carried the ball 11 times for 189 yards while wide receiver Asaad Waseem received the ball five times for 109 yards.
