All three of the area's major theme parks announced closures ahead of Hurricane Ian's arrival.
"Given the latest projections, Walt Disney World theme parks and water parks will be closed on Wednesday, Sept. 28, and Thursday, Sept. 29," Disney officials announced via Twitter. "Disney Springs will be closed on Wednesday, Sept. 28. We anticipate Disney Springs will be closed on Thursday, Sept. 29, and we will provide updates as we continue to track the storm. We are monitoring weather conditions so we can make timely decisions for the safety of our cast and guests, including when it's safe for cast to return to the site to prepare for reopening."
Universal Orlando is employing a similar tactic.
"Universal Orlando Resort, including CityWalk, will close on Sept. 28 and remain fully closed on Sept. 29," Universal officials said. "We anticipate reopening on Sept. 30 as conditions permit."
Similarly, SeaWorld officials wrote: "SeaWorld Orlando will be closed on Wednesday, Sept. 28, through Thursday, Sept. 29. Precautions are in place following the park's comprehensive weather preparedness plan to ensure the safety of our animals and ambassadors during this time."
