Windermere High School junior weightlifter Andres Giron became back-to-back state champion during the FHSAA boys weightlifting Championship Meet Saturday, April 15, at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland.

With a total of 580 points in the olympic lift and 655 points in the traditional lift, Giron — who was defending champion going into the meet — achieved a goal he had set for himself before walking into the RP Funding Center Friday, April 14: to walk away with a second medal and the championship title, and that was exactly what he did.
