Auditions open for ‘Rent’

Horizon West theater Company is holding auditions this week for its fall MainStage musical, “Rent.” Folks interested in auditioning either Tuesday, Aug. 15, or Wednesday, Aug. 16, can sign up for a spot at bit.ly/3DVdIxG. Auditions will take place in the Community Room at Orlando Health Horizon West, 17000 Porter Road, Winter Garden. Callbacks are at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18.

Due to the mature nature of the show, the theater company is only accepting auditions from those 18 years and older. Virtual auditions are acceptable and should be emailed to [email protected] by 11:59 p.m. Aug. 16. For a list of what should accompany the virtual addition, email [email protected].

“Rent” is a specific-style musical classified as a rock opera. Those auditioning should go prepared with 32 bars of a song in the style of, or directly from, the production. No monologue is required.

“Rent” will be produced Oct. 13 through 15, with tech week Oct. 8 through 13.
