The Windermere High School girls varsity volleyball swept Horizon High School with a tally of 3-0 Thursday, Aug. 31.
Among the back-and-forth chants that took place between the Windermere and Horizon’s student sections during the game — and despite the strong defensive front the Lady Hawks posed on the court — the Lady Wolverines won the first set 25-22, the second set 25-15 and the third set 25-19.
Junior outside hitter Bella Lopez led the Wolverines with nine kills followed by senior outside hitter Ashtyn Sims, who accumulated seven kills. Defensively, the Lady Wolverines accumulated 59 digs — senior libero Cay Cay Russ had 26 and sophomore opposite hitter Lily Rodgers had 13.
Windermere will host Boone, and Horizon will host South Lake, for a district game at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5.
