Citizens Police Academy accepting applications

Are you curious about what goes on inside your police department? Get your questions answered at the next Citizens Police Academy to be held March 1 through April 26. Winter Garden police officers and staff present this free, nine-week course.

The class meets from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays at the Winter Garden Police Department, 251 W. Plant St., to discuss such topics as crime prevention, investigations and police procedures. Class participants will take a tour of the Orange County Jail and are eligible to go on a ride-along with a Winter Garden officer.

Participants must be at least 18 years old, live or work in the city of Winter Garden and have no criminal record. Registration deadline is Friday, Feb. 17.
