A social-media threat directed at Horizon West Middle School Tuesday, Feb. 21, has been determined to be not credible.

According to Principal Michelle Thomas, the school received a report of a threat made on social media.

“School administration identified the individual and determined the threat not to be credible,” Thomas said in a voice mail sent to parents. “I want to assure you we take these matters very seriously and the appropriate discipline will be handed out according to the Code of Student Conduct and can include suspension, expulsion or even arrest.

“Parents, please use this opportunity to remind your student that the consequences of making a threat, even as a joke or prank, can be severe and will not be tolerated,” she said. “Please remember you can report anything suspicious to the school or on the Fortify Florida app.”
