Rosen JCC CEO Dr. Reuben Romirowsky is warning of a group planning antisemitic demonstrations and activities this weekend.
"I am reaching out to you to inform you that we are aware that antisemitic groups like the Goyim Defense League were operating in and around the Orlando area recently," Romirowsky wrote in a letter sent to the JCC community.
Romirowsky said the group targeted the Orlando Chabad on Sand Lake Road in Dr. Phillips and also has distributed flyers in area neighborhoods.
"There is an online campaign for participation in an antisemitic 'National Day of Hate' for this Saturday, Feb. 25," he wrote. "Their intent is to 'shock the masses' by conducting nationwide antisemitic banner drops, (placing) flyers and stickers, (spraying) graffiti as forms of activism, (engaging) in demonstrations to target the Jewish population, and (recruiting) like-minded individuals to further the white supremacist extremist movement."
Romirowsky said the JCC has been in contact with the Orange County Sheriff's Office and currently, there are no credible threats in the Southwest Orange area.
"The police will be making additional tours around the JCC campus over the weekend out of an abundance of caution," he said.
