Four juvenile suspects were apprehended by the Ocoee Police Department following an attempted vehicle burglary Wednesday, July 5.

The Ocoee PD arrived to the scene of an in-progress vehicle burglary at approximately 7:10 p.m. at 1006 Caballero Court in the city of Ocoee.

Officers said when they arrived on scene, a perimeter was established and a K-9 team was deployed. Officers stated they observed the steering wheel column of a 2023 Kia Soul broken in an attempt to steal the vehicle.

Four juvenile suspects admitted to their involvement and attempt to steal the car, and the suspects were detained at a nearby residence.

According to the Ocoee PD, two of the four suspects were involved in three prior stolen vehicles occurring between June 30 and July 2, with charges forthcoming.

Officers noted the vehicles stolen were all Kias and Hyundais, which were stolen by using a popular social media method to start the vehicles.

The trend of stealing these car types has become popular on TikTok and has led to an increase in vehicle thefts nationwide.

The four juvenile suspects were arrested and transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
