Horizon boys cross country repeats as Class 3A, District 3 champions

Hawks advance to Regionals on Saturday, Nov. 11 thanks to top 10 finishes from Girmay Buck (fifth) and Jacob Finch (eighth).

For the second consecutive year, Horizon boys cross country has won the Class 3A, District 3 championship. 

The Hawks scored 79 points to top second place New Smyrna Beach High School, 89 points, and third place Winter Springs High School, 117 points. 

With a time of 17:12.70, junior Grimy Buck finished in fifth place and was Horizon’s top runner at the meet, while sophomore Jacob Finch finished in eighth place with a time of 17:32.20. 

Mason Paulsberg (11th, 17:39.20), Brenden Ketelsen (26th, 18:14.90) and Christian Mitchell ( 31st, 18:38.40) were Horizon’s other three scoring runners. 

The Hawks advance to the Class 3A, Region 2 championships, which will be held Saturday, Nov. 11 at the Austin Tindall Sports Complex in Kissimmee.
