Oakland’s Trees of the Season contest open for visitors, votes

The annual season-long tree decorating contest is now open until Jan. 4, 2024

The Town of Oakland and the Healthy West Orange Arts & Heritage Center 3rd annual season-long tree decorating contest, Trees of the Season, is now open to the public.

Community members are invited to go see the 16 decorated trees, festive lights, and imaginative ornaments at the Healthy West Orange Arts & Heritage Center, located at 126 W. Petris Ave. in Oakland, and vote for their top tree.

Visitors can expect traditional themes to avant-garde expressions — the contest encourages diverse styles that capture the essence of the holiday season.

The trees will be displayed, and votes can be cast, until Jan. 4, 2024.

A native of João Pessoa, Brazil, Sam Albuquerque moved in 1997 to Central Florida as a kid. After earning a communications degree in 2016 from the University of Central Florida, he started his career covering sports as a producer for a local radio station, ESPN 580 Orlando.
