The city of Winter Garden is conducting its annual fire hydrant testing.

The process, which started this week, will run through mid-December.

The city said the essential preventative maintenance activity ensures the hydrants are functioning properly. Repairs are made as needed.

The flushing helps the city maintain its high water quality by removing sediments from the system.

During the testing, residents may notice a brief reduction in water pressure, as well as water discoloration.

However, the city said the discolored water poses no threat to the public's health.

Those who experience any water discoloration should allow their cold water to flow for several minutes.

Residents who experience continued loss of pressure or water discoloration should contact the public services department at (407) 656-2256.

For more information, call the city of Winter Garden at (407) 656-4111.
