West Orange- and Southwest Orange-area teams had varying degrees of success Friday, Oct. 13. Here's what we learned from Week Eight of the 2023 football season. 

1. ROYALS BLOW OUT DUVAL PANTHERS
The First Academy football team got a blow out win of 63-6 against Duval Charter Friday, Oct. 13. The Royals went 10-for-15 for a total of 159 passing yards and carried the ball 13 times for a total of 255 rushing yards, with running back Adrian Robinson carrying the ball three times for 106 rushing yards. Wide receivers Julian Anderson and Luke Mayberry each had two touchdown receptions, and running backs Malachi Jones and Adarin Robinson each had one rushing touchdown during the game. 

2. WARRIORS DEFENSE KEEPS WOLVERINES AT BAY
The West Orange High School football team got a blow out win go 64-3 against Windermere High School Friday, Oct. 13. Defensively, the Warriors got a total of 30 tackles — with 18 solo tackles, 12 assisted tackles and four tackle-for-loss — with free safety Ivan Taylor leading the team with five total tackles and one tackle-for-loss. 

3. VIPERS MAINTAIN WINNING RECORD
The Lake Buena Vista High School football team defeated Lake Highland Prep 27-10 Friday, Oct. 13. The Vipers continue to impress on the football field and maintain a winning streak for the first time since the foundation of the team in 2021. Lake Buena Vista is part of the Class 2M, District 4, along with Bishop Moore and as of right now, the Vipers are the No. 1 seed with a 4-2 overall season record.

4. EAGLES GET SECOND WIN OF SEASON
The Legacy High School football team took a win of 7-0 against Bell Creek Academy Friday, Oct. 13. Defensively, the Eagles had a total of 52 tackles — 24 solo tackles, 28 assisted tackles and seven tackle-for-loss. Linebacker Jake Threadgill led the Eagles with a total of eight tackles, two of which were tackle-for-loss, during the game. Defensive end Bryce St. Louis led the team in sacks, with two quarterback sacks during the game followed by tight end Ryan Rushing who had one quarterback sack during the game. 

5. HAWKS LOSE FIRST DISTRICT GAME OF SEASON
The Horizon High School football team took a 60-2 loss against Wekiva High School during its first district game of the season. The Hawks currently own a 4-3 overall season record and are getting ready to play Edgewater High School and Jones High School at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, and Thursday, Oct. 26, respectively, for their last two district games of the season.
