Goldfish Swim School is bringing a new location to the city of Winter Garden.

The new school will be the second location in the Orlando area, and the eighth location in Florida, for local owners husband-and-wife duo Gina Jacobs Thomas and Jon Thomas.

“Living in Florida, Jon and I feel a unique responsibility to help more children learn the important life skill of swimming and being safe in and around the water,” Jacobs Thomas said. “We look forward to being able to serve even more families within the Central Florida community with our new school.”

Goldfish provides swim lessons and water safety instruction to infants and children aged four months to 12 years in a safe, child-friendly environment using a research-based philosophy called The Science of SwimPlay.

In addition, the Winter Garden location will create 50 part-time and full-time jobs in the area.

The couple opened their first Goldfish location in June 2017 in Winter Park.

As parents themselves, the duo said their mission is to "educate families within the Winter Garden community about the importance of water safety and to help meet the demands of those looking for quality swim lessons as Florida also leads the nation in drownings."

“Gina and Jon are ideal franchise owners to expand the Goldfish Swim School brand in the Winter Garden community because of their passion and commitment to kids and water safety,” Chris McCuiston, CEO and co-founder of Goldfish, said. “The Winter Garden Goldfish Swim School will meet an important need in the community, and we look forward to opening our eighth Florida location.”

Goldfish now has more than 150 locations open and more than 150 in the works for development.
