Theatre South Playhouse partnering with Barnes & Noble for book fair

The cast of the theater's new production of "Matilda the Musical" will lead story time readings, perform a selection of songs from the show and be available for pictures at the event.

Theatre South Playhouse is partnering with Barnes & Noble for a special book fair in October. 

The cast of the theater's new production of "Matilda the Musical" will lead story time readings, perform a selection of songs from the show and be available for pictures at the event.

Based on the classic children’s book by Roald Dahl, "Matilda" is "the story of an extraordinary little girl who, armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, dares to take a stand and challenge those above her, changing her own destiny," according to the play's description.

The musical is directed by Hillary Brook, with choreography by Sterling Lovett and musical direction by Dragomir Page. 

The cast includes local favorites such as Jason Blackwood and Sarah Lee Dobbs as “The Wormwoods,” Jonny Jones as “The Trunchbull,” Saadya Byrd as “Mrs. Phelps,” as well as newcomers Margaret Place as “Miss Honey” and Miya Montague as “Matilda.”

The Dr. Phillips theater will also have a small giveaway for all attendees, with a few more surprises in store.

The book fair will take place from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at Barnes & Noble, 7900 W. Sand Lake Road, Orlando.

This book fair is open to the public, and all ages are encouraged to attend. 

Barnes & Noble will donate 5% of each sale made during the book fair to the playhouse. Attendees should mention they are there for the book fair at check out.

The theater will present 15 showings of "Matilda the Musical" over three weekends running from Nov. 2 to 19.
