The First Academy has announced on its social media platforms that longtime baseball coach Scott Grove has resigned from his position, effective immediately.
"We are thankful to Coach Grove for his service to our school and baseball program," the TFA athletics program's social post said.
Grove served as the Royals' coach since 2014. It is unclear why Grove stepped down from the position and a TFA representative declined to comment further on the decision.
He led the program to a national championship in 2014, a state championship in 2021, won over 600 games in his overall coaching career and was named the American Baseball Coaches Association National Coach of the Year in 2021.
During his tenure as Royals' skipper, Grove was also selected to serve on USA Baseball's staff during the 2017 14U National Team Development Program.
Taking over from Grove will be first-year TFA assistant coach Nick Franklin.
"We are pleased to announce that Coach Nick Franklin will serve as the Interim Varsity Baseball Head Coach for the remainder of the season," the social media post said.
Franklin is a former Lake Brantley High star, who was selected in the first round of the 2009 MLB Draft and played six seasons in the majors.
